A training request is a diagnosis somebody already made
A manager asks for resilience training. A learning and development director splits the budget between whoever asked, and you win the work by being on the framework and answering the phone. Nobody in that sequence has measured what the team is actually thin at, which is why the programme is judged on the feedback form rather than on anything that renews.

Today
Three lead sources, and none of them tells you what the team cannot do
Framework listings put you beside every other approved provider with nothing to separate you but price and availability. Referral arrives warm and unpredictable. Content brings people who are reading about capability frameworks at half past nine at night and then leave.
All three end in a needs analysis conversation, which is where you do the diagnosis for nothing and hope the scope survives procurement.
A request, a budget line, and nothing measured.
Budget gets allocated by request. You are competing to be the request, instead of the one who measured it.
The cost
By the time the enquiry reaches you, the shortlist already exists
94%
That describes the market, not this offer. It is here because it says where the decision happens: in the reading, before the framework listing is ever opened. A scored team assessment is one of the very few things a buyer wants during that stretch, and it arrives with your name on the output.
The needs analysis conversation is not wasted. It is unbilled time spent on a deal somebody else may already have won, held with a buyer who has ranked three providers, and built on a request that nobody has checked.
What we would build
The Team Capability Gap Analysis
Individuals answer for themselves. The answers aggregate to a team heatmap showing where capability is thinnest, and the thinnest column is almost never the course that was requested.
Depth, not coverage
The column nobody asked about
Aggregation is the part that makes this an organisational product rather than a personal one. An individual result is interesting to one person. A heatmap of the whole team is a document an L&D director takes into a budget meeting, and it has your name in the corner of every page.
What they get
One document that names the spend and specifies the programme
In the report
- A capability score per person, private to them, with nothing that reads as an appraisal.
- The team heatmap, thinnest column ranked first.
- The distance between what was requested and what the scores say is missing.
- What a programme against the thinnest column would have to cover, and what it would deliberately leave alone.
- The date the re-score is booked for.
The contents of the report, not a result. RampFunnels is pre-launch and has no client findings to publish.
The last line on that list is the one that pays. A report with a date on it is a report somebody has to come back to.
How it runs
The re-score is the renewal, and it is booked before delivery starts
Four stages. The fourth is the reason the first one happens again next year, which is the single strongest commercial argument in this sector.
Somebody asks for a course
A manager wants resilience training. Nobody has measured whether resilience is the thinnest thing in that team.
The team is scored
Everyone answers individually. The scores aggregate to a heatmap, and the thinnest column is rarely the one that was asked for.
You are commissioned against the gap
The scope is the heatmap. The proposal names the columns it moves and the ones it leaves alone.
The same team, scored again
90 days after delivery. The movement is your evidence, and the columns that did not move are next year’s conversation.
Illustrative. RampFunnels is pre-launch, so no rates, ratios or results are shown.
A programme sold against a request ends when the request is satisfied. A programme sold against a baseline ends with a second measurement, and a second measurement is a meeting you do not have to ask for.
It also changes what happens when the movement is small. A provider who publishes a flat result and explains it is a provider the client keeps, which is not true of one who only ever reports success.

Ours rates your own pipeline on the four things that decide whether the people reading you ever enquire, and names the one costing you most.
